Coffee factory in Georgia blends into the landscape
The construction of the Meama Coffee site near Tbilisi (Georgia) took place between 2016 and 2019. Located by the side of the highway linking the city with the airport, the site houses a manufacturing facility and offices, as well as a showroom and coffee tasting areas.

The building owner wanted a place with a strong visual identity for their coffee brand. One of the key requirements was that the site would not look like the typical factory facility, but that it would blend seamlessly into the surrounding landscape instead.
Imagined by Giorgi Khmaladze Architects, the result is impressive. From the highway, the building is a homogeneous concrete volume with no visible openings. The facade has a curved geometry which changes appearance during the day, according to the passing lights and shadows caused by the sun. All the openings of the building are on the back, where they overlook a pine forest. The large green roof follows the shapes of the surrounding landscape, blending seamlessly into it. A large number of skylights allow plenty of natural light indoors.
The customer chose Elevate’s RubberGard EPDM roofing system as it provided them with the desired solution for the green roof. The roofing membrane’s extreme durability, its ease and speed of installation, the expertise of the roofing company and the support from the local Firestone team were all factors that contributed to their decision. In total, about 6,500 m² of Elevate’s 1.1 mm-thick RubberGard EPDM roofing membrane were used on this project.
